GCWA Support

Over the years GCWA Inc. has supported the craft of writing in the community with workshops and seminars for all writers, including creative writing programs for youth, the aged, and in retirement villages and schools. At our monthly meetings, members give encouragement and support to one another, and publication and competition successes are recognised. Many published and unpublished authors enjoy the opportunity to meet other writers, hear motivational speakers and encourage newcomers to the craft. GCWA taps into a wealth of information on matters from writing for pleasure, technique, publishing and marketing your work. We arrange speakers from the industry to address our monthly meetings covering these subjects. Past speakers have included; Anne Rickard, Peter Watt, Simon Higgins, Robyn Burrows, Pam Graham and Chris Nyst, just to name a few.Workshops and events are held regularly, and members also share their ideas at informal support group sessions covering Novels, Autobiographies, Screenwriting, Short Stories, Children's Writing, Non-Fiction, Poetry and more. Our monthly Writeabout magazine includes contributions from members on topics relative to the craft as well as tips and articles about writing and writers. There is also information on current competitions and marketing opportunities.
