Stories will be selected based on the quality of the storyline and the way in which it portrays the essence of the Australian character, Australian values, Australian multicultural society, and the uniqueness of Australian rural, urban and natural environments.

Stories submitted should also

be fun and engaging for the 7-8.5 year old
motivate both boys and girls to read
have a strong storyline
feature proactive characters from a range of backgrounds
tackle an issue

Word extent: 1200 - 2500 words.
